Shelton State wins the ACCC

Shelton State Community College won the Alabama Community College Conference Championship for the third consecutive year.  Several former and current Post 34 players are on this year's team:  Nick Vickerson ('06, '07, '08), John David Smelser ('06, '07), Brett Whitaker ('06, '07), Michael Carden ('06), Coy Arrowood ('08, '09), and Jon McKinney ('09).  Whitaker was named the Tournament MVP and Smelser and Carden joined him on the All-Tournament Team.

FORMER PLAYERS

J.T. Watkins ('07) is a member of the Army Baseball team that recently won the Patriot Conference title.  Army will advance to the NCAA Regional Tournament.

Nick Vickerson ('06, '07, '08) has signed to play with Mississippi State.  Nick is completing his sophomore season at Shelton State Community College.

Sam Kelley ('09) has signed to play for the UAB Blazers coached by Brian Shoop.  Sam is a senior at Southern Academy in Greensboro.

Justin Anglin ('09), Vincent Kortbawi ('08, '09), & Rob McWhirter ('08. '09) were selected to the Alabama Sports Writer's Association All-State Team.

Anglin - 3A Pitcher (Hamilton High)

Kortbawi - 2A Designated Hitter (Hale County High)

McWhirter - AISA Designated Hitter (Tuscaloosa Academy)

Alex Aultman ('09), a junior from Winfield High School, received Honorable Mention as a Third Baseman in 3A.

Also on the All-State Team were Post 34 Junior Post players, Chris Davis and Marc Sullivan.

Blake Beck ('09) has signed to play baseball for Coach Joey May at Bevill State in Fayette.  Blake is a 2009 graduate of Hamilton High School.

Hunter Trawick ('08, '09) will join Post 34 teammate Rob McWhirter at Meridian Community College in the fall.  Hunter is a 2009 graduate of Hillcrest High School.

Vincent Kortbawi ('08, '09), a graduate of Hale County High School, has signed to play for Coach Neal Holliman at East Central Community College in Decatur, MS.

Christo Sullivan ('08, '09), a graduate from Tuscaloosa County High School, will play next year for the Jacksonville State University Gamecocks.

Taylor Conant ('08, '09), a 2009 graduate of Tuscaloosa Academy, will play baseball and football at Millsaps College in Jackson, MS.  The Millsaps football team is coached by former University of Alabama Coach, Mike DuBose.

Zach Doherty ('09) will join Post 34 teammates Forrest Holifield and Blake Beck at Bevill State Community College in the fall.  Zach is a 2009 graduate of Hillcrest High School.

Justin Anglin ('09) has signed with Shelton State Community College.  Anglin was a member of the Hamilton High School team that advanced to the 3A Semi-Finals. (Click here for picture.)
